Abstract

Introduction: Surgical procedures are considered risky for patients with pulmonary hypertension. Anesthesia can cause an overload on the heart, so the clinical management of this patient must be combined by the multiprofessional team to assist in patient care fully focused on hemodynamic control. Objective: To highlight the main complications in the postoperative period of patients with pulmonary hypertension, as well as the necessary care to be performed. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, carried out through a survey of data in the scientific databases LILACS, SCIELO and BDENF. Results and Discussions: The multidisciplinary team must have resources and instruments that help in the practice of care. In the first instance, monitoring is essential and includes monitoring of medications, blood pressure, signs and symptoms. It is important to emphasize blood pressure, as decompensation can lead to increased vascular resistance, heart failure and the risk of a heart attack. Conclusion: In this way, this research highlighted the importance of the professional to know the possible complications that the postoperative period can cause to the patient with pulmonary hypertension. In view of this, care needs to be carried out in a systematic and holistic way to prevent any risk to the patient and accelerate the process of hospital discharge recovery.
