Abstract

Introduction: The implications of miscarriage directly reflect on women's health. Complications can range from heavy bleeding, infections, and even sepsis. Evidences indicate that high numbers of women die annually due to complications of abortion. Therefore, this research is justified by its academic, scientific and social relevance, based on investigating the main information regarding the incidence of reported cases of deaths caused by abortion. Objective: To present the incidence of deaths due to spontaneous abortion during the period from 2018 to 2021. Methodology: This study was carried out through a cross-sectional analysis, whose purpose was to collect and interpret data that cover epidemiological data on the incidence of deaths due to spontaneous abortion. spontaneous abortion during the period from 2018 to 2021. The data collection took place in the year 2023, using the Notifiable Diseases Information System - SINAN and the Unified Health System Database - DATASUS, where the data collected are concentrated between May and June 2023, referring to all states in the country. Results and discussions: The evidence presented in the table, through the data collection, finds that the year 2018 is characterized among the period that had the highest rate of death notifications. Allied to this, among these notifications, the Northeast region stands out among those with the most notifications of deaths of women of childbearing age in 2018. From 2019 to 2021, there is a significant reduction in this incidence, with the Southeast region remaining in 2nd place in the regions with the highest incidence of notification. Conclusion: The research for this article was focused on collecting epidemiological data on the incidence of deaths from spontaneous abortion during the period from 2018 to 2021. The course of this research identified a significant decline in the rate of deaths reported in the last 3 years. , it appears that this issue is still a public health problem and more interventions must be carried out to minimize such incidence.
