Abstract

Objective: Comment on the fatigue of health professionals involved in patient care in the intensive care unit in the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Study carried out with in-depth and comprehensive reading of notebooks, books, biographies, scientific articles, academic summaries and other materials that address the topic. The research took place in 2020, seeking to reflect on the main aspects related to fatigue of health professionals, which in the context of the ICU, permeate fatigue and exhaustion during care delivery. Results: Based on the readings performed, the psychological, emotional and physical fatigue of professionals involved in intensive care in the COVID-19 pandemic was perceived. Few interventions were carried out to take care of these professionals, sometimes based on “doing without receiving anything in return”. Professionals did not have adequate time to rest, showing tiresome shifts in the ICU. Conclusion: It is concluded that it needs further research on this topic, of experimental and practical origin.
